We are pleased to announce that Janice Eaton Updike’s exhibition is being extended, by popular demand, through September. The show reflects a wide range of emotion and subject matter not always evident in her more commonly known work. A consummate master of her chosen medium, Janice’s pastels display her keen attention to detail and composition, as well as her ability to abandon herself to color and light. This show is a must-see for any true art lover or collector. Currently showing through September in the gallery at 48 Market Street, in Newburyport.
We recently had the opportunity to help preserve a bit of art history by cleaning and installing a hanging system to the back of this 4′ x 6′ panel painted by the artist Jon Kodwyck of Newburyport in 1975. It will be hanging in the new owners home by this weekend. We feel it was an honor to be asked to participate in this project.
Nothing quite compares to an August late afternoon along the river in Newburyport. The intensity of light, slowly fading toward evening with the day’s heat beginning to succumb to cool breezes off the water, and the smells of the tidal basin, pungent, salty, and reminiscent of times long ago.
